9 tips to stay calm and focused during exams

In school, whenever the exams period approaches, most students get themselves tensed up and their stress levels increases drastically. These feeling is not favourable for students because it can make you lose focus and at the end you might not achieve your actual goal (which is passing your exams). If you always find yourself in this situation, let me show you some few tips that can help you stay calm and focused during examination periods. 


Tips to keep you calm and focused during exams

1. Make a schedule – and stick to it
Having a planned program or schedule of your daily tasks can really go a long way in keeping you organised and focused. You might feel that it takes up time that you could have spent studying, but in the end it makes getting started much easier, helps you stay on track with what you still have to learn, and it can help motivate you as you exclude some of the work that you have already done. Make sure to prioritize everything so as to ensure you get through the most important stuff first, and know it as best you can.


2. Lighten the mood
Believe it or not bright lights help you concentrate and prevent you from dozing off when studying for the “not so fun” class. This works perfectly for me, and i believe it can work for you too once you give it a shot.


3. Get some exercise
Exercise is the best way to blow off steam and work off stress. Get creative, go jogging with a friend or play some evening soccer with some people after class, this can go a long way in keeping your body fit and your brain sound.

4. Chew some gum
Chewing gum will help you stay focused while studying and it is proven to boost mental performance. So you can go ahead and load some gums in your mouth while studying.


5. Eat healthy and clean
Eating healthy foods are always better for your body and brain than eating foods saturated with sugar and carbs, but during examnation week try to eat clean as well. This means you should try to only eat natural, fresh foods with zero chemicals and preservatives. You should also endeavour not to skip meals because this can lower your energy supply. Even if you only have time for a little snack it is better for your body than going without food entirely.


6. Vary your place of study and Keep it organized
Do not study in the same place every night and be sure that the environment you study is clean and organized, it will help you stay focused and retain the information better.




7. Do not over Caffeinate
Putting too much caffeine into your body can increase your anxiety and stress rates. It will end up having the opposite effect than you had initially desired, so you should know your limits.


8. Sleep
“But I have a presentation and two papers due tomorrow and a quiz and a test.  In addition, i have other activities such as promoting my clubs upcoming event and I have to work on this group project that is due at the end of the week”… I get it, school and work and life can be overbearing sometimes, especially during exams period, but sleep is a necessity! As much as you think it makes more sense to pull a few all-nighters and get everything done you really will be better off with at least a few hours of sleep a night. Sleep helps you stay focused and be as productive as possible when you are awake.


9. Natural Supplements
Do not go on drugs, because any artificial or chemical can cause major side effects which can derail your studies completely. Rather go for an alternative product like some natural supplements if you want to stay focused and calm during exams.
