Moringa leaves are leaves that are found on the moringa tree, a plant that is native to North India. The tree is also known as Moringa ben oil tree, drumstick tree or radish tree. The botanical or scientific name of this plant is known as Moringa oleifera. It is a plant that have been existing for thousands of years, and throughout this period, it have been widely cherished due to the numerous health benefits that it provides to mankind.

For some time now, the moringa leaves have been used as a case study by so many scientists, but it seems only few portions of the reported health benefits of this miraculous, healthy plant have been investigated. Below are 10 reasons why you should be eating moringa leaves and why they are healthy for you.

1. Moringa leaves are rich in antioxidants
Antioxidants are compounds that fights against free radicals found in the body. When free radicals gets accumulated and present in high amounts, it can lead to chronic diseases such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Antioxidants that are been provided by moringa leaves includes:

  • Beta-carotene
  • Vitamin C
  • Chlorogenic acid, and
  • Quercetin

A recent study reported that by consuming just 7 grams of moringa leaf powder for 90 days, the antioxidant levels of the blood of the tested subjects was greatly increased.

2. Moringa leaves can improve your overall gut health
Digestive system disorders such as ulcers, gastric cancer and gastritis are all caused by the by the bacteria, Helicobacter pylori. This bacteria can be easily fought by the anti-bacterial properties of moringa plant. 

3. Moringa is rich in nutrients
Moringa leaves can be consumed or eaten through different ways, such as through capsules, powder, or whole and raw. Just a cup of chopped fresh moringa leaves provides an abundant amount of minerals and vitamins. In just this amount of leaves, you will be loaded with 2 grams of protein, 19% of the recommended amount of vitamin B6, 12% of vitamin C, 11% of iron, 8% of magnesium, 9% of vitamin A, and 11% of vitamin B12 (Riboflavin). There is   protein found in moringa plant which has the ability to bind with impurities found in water. This binding causes them to congeal so that these clusterings can be separated from the water. With the little knowledge of this, it can lead to a wide range access of clean and safe, drinkable water. If the moringa leaves can do this to water, then you can imagine what it can do for your body when consumed.

  2. There are many health benefits of taking moringa capsules daily, it contains almost all vitamins found in fruits and vegetables and it helps more than 300 diseases.
